Name of the shop is Northern Thai or 泰北. It is situated at the corner of
Tyrwhitt and Kitcherner Road.
The boss is chatty and friendly, he will go around asking if the food is ok whenever he is free. Very good customer service here!Understand that he married a Thai as his wife (lucky guy) and his wife is in-charge of the kitchen and he in-charge outside the kitchen.View Larger Map(N01 18.541' E103 51.504)
Dish to recommend is the seafood Tom Yam soup with pineapple rice ($4/set) and fried fillet ($6).
The pineapple rice is nicely friend with nice aroma smell and top with pork floss. You can even eat it by itself without any side dish or gravy.
The seafood Tom Yam soup (they also serve fish fillet tom yam), the star of the stall, is thick and rich in flavor. They are very generous with the serving with tou fu, tomato, shrimp, mushroom, fried fish slice and lots of spice.
The soup is spicy and sour with the right touch. SHIOK!!!
They used to serve the entire fish but they remove it from the menu due to some customer complain. They complain that the kid ate the fish and the fish bone almost choke the kid (sigh ... singaporean)
So the thoughtful boss improvise it with the fillet and this is the product. Fillet is crispy even with the spicy sweet and sour sauce. If happen that your eating plain rice, this sauce also go damn well with the rice.
So how good is the food you may ask ...
Need I say more??
Do note that they only open for lunch and do go early as the pineapple rice sell out faster then your heart beat when you travel on the ERP CTE.
Normally, it will pack with people during lunch time and during peak hour, do prepare to wait for approx 10~15minutes for your order.
And they don't open for business on Sunday.
